After living in Paris for nearly three years I’m still amazed at how well European women dress. It is rare to see somebody bad-dressed — even if they’re just buying some bread. Hopefully these fashion advices will help you to choose which clothes to buy and give you an idea of how to dress like an European woman.

The Golden Rule of  European Fashion

To speak the truth, there are no rules and there doesn’t really exist a true European fashion style. You’ve probably heard that Parisians only wear black clothes, but if you walk around the streets of  that city you’ll see stylish people wearing all kinds of colors. This guide will show the general fashion trends that I’ve noticed, but I suggest you to add your own personal style into your clothing choices. My main goal is to give you an example of  European fashion and to supply you with some ideas of what you might want to wear.

The Fit

People think that Europeans look great because they have closets full of designer clothes, but this isn’t completely true. They may have a few designer items, but they almost all the time shop at mass-market stores and also shops-online with wholesale European clothing  just like us. The secret is that they purchase clothes that fit well and even if the fit isn’t right, then they’ll get their clothes remade.

Simple

European women keep their clothes simple and classic. They choose classic timeless things that don’t scream for attention. Then they add some accessory (like scarf, jewelry and so on) to bring the whole outfit together. I also saw a lot of contrasting things used together. For example  pairing a slightly oversized sweater with tight skinny jeans.

Shoes

Europeans live in very small apartments, but they still have an amazing collection of different shoes.

European women live in high heels. But these women have years of  practice walking by the streets, so you might find yourself really struggling and strong  if you choose to wear a pair of sexy heels. Shoe collection isn’t complete without a few pairs of boots. During the winter time you’ll see tall leather boots almost everywhere.

When the weather gets warm it’s time to wear the lightweight shoes. Strappy sandals, flat shoes, loafers and casual sneakers are all good choices.

Scarves

Nothing is more European than a scarf and they are the perfect way to make a great stylish outfit. A warm and cozy scarf is perfect for the winter and a light cotton scarf is great for the summer or spring.

Trench Coats

A timeless classic trench coat is a chic way to look great during those cold and rainy days.

Neutraleuropeon

Many Europeans tend to dress in dark and neutral colors. Of course you’ll see many colors, so don’t feel like you need to dress totally black all the time but when in doubt, choose neutral colors.
